For this installment of Learn With Us, you will be guided through how to create a personalised face mask out of old material to help provide you with a little more comfort whilst out and about during this time.

To complete the tutorial, you will need:
40 x 40cm of scrap cotton material – ideally this will be heavy to medium cotton with a high density weave (such as quilting cotton), to test the density, hold the material up to the light, the higher the density = the less light will shine through.
Cotton thread
Sharp sewing scissors
Sewing needles
Sewing pins
56cm of 1cm wide elastic
1 x safety pin
Iron

As cases of COVID-19 are continuing to be confirmed in the UK, many people are opting to wear a face mask. Although experts claim, that while they will not protect you from getting the virus, it may help to provide some protection for others you come in close contact with or to make you feel a little safer.
Please remember, face masks are not a replacement for social distancing, we absolutely recommend that everyone continues to social distance and follow other government measures to help prevent the spread of the virus and keep everyone safe.
