What is Kev’s corner?
Kev’s corner is a live information session to give you tips and tricks straight from the trade. Helping to support you to learn new practical skills in carpentry, painting and decorating and DIY; learning what tools are best for what jobs and getting the most out of your tools; and answering your questions.
Sessions are ran around you and your needs, with specific questions on different topic areas welcomed.
Who is Kev?
Kevin is our technical skills instructor for our Eco Furniture Factory. Whilst still at school, Kev discovered a love for carpentry, helping his father (a qualified carpenter and joiner) in the evenings and weekend. This sparked his interest in the construction industry. On finishing school, Kev went on to undertake a 5 year training apprenticeship, specifying in Brickwork.
After completing his apprenticeship, Kev spent 14years working for various different companies in the building trades to expand on his skill set before moving self-employed and running his own company for 9years, and then joining our FabLab team.
Through his varied employment Kev has gained skills and knowledge in a variety of areas, particularly experienced in:
- Brick laying
- Carpentry
- Tiling
- Plastering
- Painting & Decorating
- Rendering
- Concreting
- Drainage
- Kitchen fitting
- Bathroom fitting
How long are the sessions?
Sessions are 1 hour in length, but you can always request a 1-2-1 with Kevin, our eco furniture factory technical skills instructor, afterwards if you want more support.
These will be ran on the last Monday of every month 10am – 11am, covering different areas each time.
How do the sessions run?
The sessions will be ran once per month on the last Monday of every month over zoom: including demonstrations, information, examples, question and answer sessions.
