Whilst we still find ourselves at home, don’t let this stop you from learning some new skills. The team at FabLab are committed to supporting you in anyway we can, meaning all of our sessions are still running online, allowing you to: continue learn new skills, try something new and connect with others. Information about our workshops and our full timetable of activity can be found below.
Coming up in March
Our weekly virtual coffee mornings offer you a chance to catch up with our team and other members; find out more about upcoming workshops and opportunities; and share ideas and ways to keep connected during these times. The sessions are held as drop ins every Tuesday between 10am-12pm over Zoom, for you to pick and choose when is suitable for you to attend. No formal booking is required to attend, you can either follow this link and it’ll take you to the call, or alternatively use our booking form to register interest and the call will be sent directly to your inbox.
Our “Getting Started with” workshops continue to go ahead, covering three main themes:
These are informative sessions designed around your needs and desires. Covering demonstrations, example products and Q&As – some sessions also involve practical activities where our team will guide you step-by-step through a virtual making workshop you can complete at home.
Kev, our technical skills instructor, has over 20years building industry experience and can support you with tips & tricks straight from the trade on how to complete those fiddly DIY jobs around your home in our monthly installment of Kev’s Corner. The sessions are ran on the last Monday of every month between 10am-11am, covering a different main topic each time.
Through listening to your needs, we are also launching our CSCS training workshop. If you are looking to pursue a career in the building trade, it’s likely you will need to gain a CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) card. Our three day training session will support you through various different training activities, including mock tests to get you prepared and ready to undertake the final test. This session is designed to help you prepare, revise and learn relevant material for the test, not take the actual test – this is something you will need to do after training.
“Green Week” this year falls 8th – 14th March 2021, a celebration of Coventry’s sustainable practices, as well as a chance to learn and take action to lead more sustainable lives. FabLab Coventry have partnered up with the wider Coventry University Sustainability team and beyond to host specific workshops focusing around themes of Upcycling, Recycling, Reuse and Repair.

As with any of our workshops or courses, additional 1-2-1 support can be provided after the training to give you more support if required – so no need to worry if you still have questions after any of our sessions! More support can be requested at the end of the sessions or you can contact our team and we can arrange this with you at a suitable time to meet your needs.
